The department was established in 2002. The Syllabi are based on UGC guidelines and are designed to prepare the students for the basic degree in the subject as well as for the various competitive examinations. The department is keenly working in various new areas of Literature, Language, Media and Mass Communication and Organizes seminars, debates, poetry and story competitions for students of the department as well as for the whole university students for developing creative writing skills. For the students of the department, competitions are organized from time to time. For the students of the department a number of special lectures by the eminent scholars of Hindi literature and media world are organized. The department is equipped with a departmental library and computer laboratory, a language laboratory and media laboratory. The department is undertaking a major research project sponsored by UGC and is pursuing research in national Consciousness in Hindi Literature and journalism between 1857 to 1947. Programmes/Classe: Programmes of study:
Under the Ph.D. Program the scholars of the department have undertaken research projects on Comparative Literature, English, American Literature, Indian Writing in English and Canadian Literature dissertation.
(I) M.A. (Hindi) Programme
It is a two years (four semesters) Course. As per university grant commission’s guidelines, the programme is based on 10 papers and the syllabi are designed to fulfill the need of NET/Competiteve examinations.
(II) M.Phil. Programme
it is a one year (two semesters) Course based on the study of research Methodology, the study of the theories of literature, and different ideologies. The student must submit a dissertation at the end of final semester.
(III) Ph. D. Programme
The Ph. D. programme in Hindi is undertaken in Modern Hindi Literature like modern poetry, novels, stories, satire and critics with various areas of functional (Vyavsayic) Hindi and media studies.

(I) M.A. (Hindi) Programme
It is a two years (four semesters) Course.
(II) M.Phil. Programme
it is a one year (two semesters) Course.
(III) Ph. D. Programme
 
Nature/Type:
Information should be sent separately for Regular and self Finance Courses.
 
Eligibility Conditions.

M.Phil. Programme Hindi Master’s Degree in concerned subject with 55% Marks. The eligibility conditions regarding Bachelor’s degree and intermediate Examinations are same as for admission to M.A. Programmes.

M.A.Programmes Second class Bachelor’s degree
(Including concerned subject) with 55% marks and second division in intermediate Examination or 50 % in each of the Bachelor’s Degree and intermediate Examination, separately.
